Have you gotten in on the Perfect Pattern Parcel train yet?  If not you should!!  Not only are you supporting indie pattern designers and getting some awesome patterns, you are supporting children’s education!  Originally I bought it for the Lady Skater pattern, which I have yet to make.  Instead I opted to first make Dixie DIY’s Summer Concert Tee.

Summer Concert Tee

I was unsure of the fullness of the top at first, but let me tell you all, I am in love with this pattern!  I got so many compliments when I wore it to work that I was quickly won over.  My bust measurement was just an inch bigger than the XL and I thought I would be able to get away with that since there is so much ease in the pattern.  The fabric I used had not been pre-washed, so I did end up adding a little just in case it shrinks when I wash it.  I used 2 yards of a printed cotton knit from  the stash that I got at Jo-Ann’s at least 5 years ago.  Yay for stashbusting!

It took me all of 30 minutes to cut out the fabric and sew it up!  So easy.  I did make a few minor changes to it.  I took off the bands on the sleeves and lengthened the sleeves by 2″.  I also added 2″ to the hem.  I recommend this pattern to everyone who wants something quick and easy to make.  I love the hi-lo hem.  I love it so much I am thinking about drafting my own tank top version that is more fitted in the top with an attached hi-lo skirt.

I made a second version the next day at work on my lunch.  It also used 2 yards of a burnout stash knit.  This one was not as successful though.  The fabric is absolutely terrible!  It sticks to it self like it is full of static but it is not.  It is mostly why this piece has been in my stash for the last 6 years or so.  I didn’t finish any of the hems on this version.  I think it is going to be a around the house lazy weekend kind of top.

I love this pattern so much I am thinking about drafting my own tank top version that is more fitted with and empire top and attached hi-lo lower bodice.
