Here is my contribution to the sewing rainbow! This skirt is thanks to the wonderful ladies involved in #FabricChat! This gorgeous chiffon fabric has been sitting in my stash for nearly a decade!! Ten whole freaking years! I love the print and just could not decide how I wanted to use it. Well the Sewcialists on the last Fabric Chat helped me with that. There were several options thrown out there for what I could do, but a maxi skirt was the one that struck me. I made a different version of my self drafted skirt from last summer. This version has the long chiffon layer with a short black cotton layer underneath. Both are attached to 3″ wide elastic with a zig-zag stitch. I used my 3 yards pink and black print chiffon and 1 yard of black cotton, all from my stash. I wore it last Monday, when the weather was amazing. I got quite a few compliments on it, so I think I want to make one more maxi version with a polka dot chiffon I got back in January.
On a side note, I made it through Lent without buying fabric! It has been just over a week since Easter and I still haven’t bought fabric. I think I want to continue this fabric fast until my New Orleans trip in June. I know I will be buying fabric as a souvenir while there. The only piece of fabric I want is some black swimwear lining to go under a ITY print knit from the stash. I drafted a high low dress and I really need a lining for the fabric but don’t have one. So when Jo-Ann’s decides to get more in for my local store I will get it, because I know that print will be perfect for my new pattern.
That’s such a cute skirt!
Thank you!
Yay for no fabric shopping! And your skirt turned out so cute!
Thank you!
